Anniversary Hauntings

As soon as we hit 1st of September, I started seeing posts about ghosts that appear in September. It would seem to make sense that on the anniversary of an event, especially a significant event, it could prompt activity, a disturbance in the force for want of a better phrase, which sees past events replay.

However, for me there is a big question mark over that. Even if we exclude the leap year adjusting the calendar every 4 years, we previously made a significant change.

In September 1752, Britain adopted the Gregorian Calendar to bring the country into line with many other countries. The result was 11 days were 'lost'. On its implementation, Wednesday 2nd September 1752 was followed by Thursday 14th September.

The result is that events that happened prior to the change actually occurred 11 days earlier than the same date after the calendar change.

So if we believe in anniversary ghosts, the reported replays are actually happening 11 days after the anniversary of the event.

Why would that be? Is it the written date that is significant rather than the (approximate) cycle of a lunar year? Is it that people look for activity on certain dates, hence their senses are more in tune and they pick up on activity which happens throughout the year but associate it with the anniversary? Is it the combined energy of people focusing on a location as they remember and, in some case, commemorate past events which fuels a replay? Or is it something else?

What do you think?

I definitely lean towards a collective remembrance somehow fueling the activity rather than the date. Much like the PEAR labs that in one experiment attempted to measure the effects of intent on random number generators with interesting results, I think our thoughts are a huge factor in paranormal experience. We are now coming up to the anniversary of one of our most impactful modern day tragedies, the World Trade Centre attacks on Sept. 11th. I was driving to work that morning in an old beat up car I owned. The one of the windows didn't work, a hole was rusting through the floor and the radio was busted. At about the halfway mark in my drive, I suddenly got incre…
