The Location
Originally known as Priesthill, Gracemount Mansion began life around 1780 as a rectory on the edge of what is now south Edinburgh. Built for Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Waugh and later home to the Green family, the house and its grounds were eventually gifted to the people of Edinburgh and became a much-loved community hub, serving for decades as a youth and community centre. Now closed and awaiting full restoration, the once-grand country house stands at the heart of the Gracemount estate, its faded interiors and overgrown grounds preserving layers of social history spanning more than two centuries.
