Evidence Library (Raw Audio Sessions + Highlight Clips)

The DR60 EVP session files and selected clips.  Highlighted clips are roughly titled or annotated where possible but open to interpretation.  These captures picked up something in our environment and some we can roughly hear after processing through the software. Some things to listen for till we produce the annotated videos...

Can you hear them in the files?  Please let us know if you find anything else. We’ll update you with a video if you’re struggling with the audio and need guidance on the words.

Initial Feedback | MAY 11th 2026

Gladstone's Land is one of the oldest surviving buildings on Edinburgh's historic Royal Mile, serving as a vibrant commercial and social hub for over 500 years. This Category A-listed Old Town merchant tenement preserves the dense, vertical character of 17th-century Edinburgh, featuring a 1621 frontage and an even older 16th-century rear wing. Purchased and expanded by ambitious merchant Thomas Gladstone in 1617, the property was notably adorned with beautiful hand-painted timber ceilings in 1620. Amazingly, these remarkable architectural treasures were hidden behind plaster for generations and were only rediscovered after the National Trust for Scotland saved the dilapidated building from demolition in 1934.

The true significance of Gladstone’s Land lies in its deeply layered history, pressing centuries of ordinary and extraordinary human experiences into its very walls. Unlike polite Georgian manors, the building reflects the darker, tighter, and more urban realities of Edinburgh's past. Its rooms and cellar hold documented ties to early international trade, hidden working-class lives, and vice. The tenement was also a backdrop to some of Scotland's most notorious historical events, including housing a minister involved in a local witch-trial investigation and serving as a refuge for a nobleman fleeing the infamous Frendraught murder controversy in the 1630s

Background & Preparations

The full-scale investigation built upon an initial recce of the Royal Mile property, which had already produced two very strong EVPs on your devices: "JOHN LEFT ME" and "The Fire". Because the team is dedicated to providing a comprehensive picture rather than just an on-the-night experience, this preliminary report notes that a full analysis of the extensive audio, EDI+ sensor data, and raw footage is still ongoing.

Team Setup & Equipment

  • Locations: You led three sessions inside the exhibition room, which is situated next to the oldest part of the property, while Lisa took pairs of guests down to the old tavern area to conduct ESTES sessions.

  • Monitoring Array: The exhibition room was heavily monitored with an Orange EDI+, a REM-Pod style device, a Natural TriField meter, motion sensors, and a 360-degree camera to capture all angles.

  • External Sensors: A Blue EDI+ was installed just outside the door, and a music box sensor was placed on the back stairs.

  • Communication Tools: You utilised a Panasonic DR60 and a Frank's Box, whilst remaining open to mediumistic information and encouraging guests to use their own recording devices.

Initial Findings & Data Hits

  • Recurring Themes: Throughout the night, the names George, Richard, and Robert frequently emerged, along with phrases such as "help me," "talking" (or "talk to"), and references to a "man".

  • Environmental Anomalies: The EDI+ devices recorded significant environmental hits, particularly with electromagnetic energy spikes and geophone vibrations. These readings validated equipment triggers that occurred earlier in the evening when you were setting up alone and during a walkaround with Greg.

  • Unexplained Noises: Multiple auditory anomalies were noted. During a quiet EVP attempt, you captured the sound of a crack at the door. Several witnesses also reported hearing a "sighing" noise coming from the door. Furthermore, during a break period, your 360-degree camera captured a remarkably loud crack inside the room.

Conclusion

While hours of Frank's Box audio and ESTES session video still need to be meticulously reviewed over the coming days, the initial feedback suggests a highly successful investigation. There was a surprising cross-bleed of names, information, and activity, some of which aligns with the historical record
